I am having trouble sharpening a buck knife,?

This is a 1 10 folding hunting knife that is giving me trouble.I have had other buck brand knives before and sharpened them successfully with my 'arsenal' of hones,oil stones and water stones but this one seems to be made of extra hard steel or something. I am hesitant to return it to the buck company being it was a wedding anniversary gift and the bronze hilt and jowls have ben heavily engraved which makes it special!
