Good schools and neighborhood outside of philadelphia pa?

My husband and I live and work in center city philadelphia and love it, however we are ready to buy a home. I know the philadelphia school system isnt great but I dont know a lot about the surrounding area. Where are the best school districts in the best areas. We are looking for 2-3 bedroom homes in the $200,000- $250,000 range and really want to live near to the city as possible (25 min train ride tops) in an area where there is a lot to do. Idealy, we are looking to move to a slightly less congested, more spacious, safer, and greener version of center city. Bars, restaurants, shops within walking distance. Does this utopia exist?
